Buffy Sainte-Marie and Burton Cummings to be Honoured at the JUNO Awards

The 2016 JUNO Awards nominees have been announced and veteran singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie, whose song Universal Soldier was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (CSHF) in 2005, has been nominated for three JUNO Awards for her album Power in the Blood:

  • Songwriter of the Year
  • Aboriginal Album of the Year
  • Contemporary Roots Album of the Year

The nominations come shortly after winning the Polaris Music prize for Power in the Blood in September 2015. For a full list of JUNO nominees, click here.

Also being honored at the event is 2005 Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Burton Cummings who will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame (CMHF). Cummings is a member of the CMHF through his band The Guess Who (inducted in 1987) and 2016 will mark the singer-songwriter’s solo induction.

The 45th Annual JUNO Awards will be hosted in Calgary on Sunday, April 3, 2016 and broadcast live on CTV.
