CSHF launches Covered Classics with new cover of “To Sir With Love” by Nikki Yanofsky and Dan Kanter

CSHF News

The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (CSHF) has launched Covered Classics, a new element in its song induction program. We’ve teamed up with CBC/Radio-Canada to bring you a series of live cover performances as part of a song’s induction into the Hall of Fame.

To kick off Covered Classics, the CSHF is proud to induct “To Sir With Love”. The hit song, famously sung by Lulu in the eponymous 1967 movie starring Sidney Poitier, was written by Don Black and Canada’s own Mark London. We celebrate the induction of “To Sir With Love” with an acoustic rendition performed by singer Nikki Yanofsky, featuring Dan Kanter on guitar.

In the past, the CSHF inducted songs at its formal induction ceremonies. Our desire to stay fresh and innovative led us to explore new ways to increase the profile and visibility of Canada’s greatest songwriters and help promote Canadian artists. Covered Classics is the perfect mechanism to achieve both objectives, while at the same time introducing these legendary songs to a new generation of music lovers.
