2003 CSHF Induction Ceremony

The first ever inaugural Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place on December 8, 2003 at Toronto’s Glenn Gould Studio.

The event honoured inductees Gordon Lightfoot and Hank Snow, as well as 12 classic songs by some of Canada’s most influential songwriters and three Legacy Award recipients.

The ceremony featured incredible performances by Ron Sexsmith, Sarah Slean, Tom Cochrane, Blue Rodeo, Marc Jordan, Measha Brüeggergosman, Molly Johnson, Murray McLauchlan, Sylvia Tyson, Anne Lindsay, Audrey de Montigny, The Dexters, Doug Riley, Caitlin Hanford, Claudio Vena, Jean-François Breau, Original Toronto Cast of Hair, Parmela Attariwala, Quartette, Tobi Legend-Lark, Richard Armin, Shelagh Rogers, Sonia Benezra and Yves Lamb.

CHSF Legacy Awards were presented to broadcaster Pierre Juneau and Canadian folklorists Ernest Gagnon and Marius Barbeau.

The ceremony was broadcast on CBC Radio One on December 7, 2003.
